I'm Deb and this is my husband Dale.
We live in beautiful, central Missouri, on 32 acres. We are about 50 miles Soutwest of St.Louis. We have been back in the dairy goat business for just a few years.
I had told my husband, Dale, that I just wanted a couple of doe's for our own milk, and cheese. That was quite a few doe's ago. When I purchased our 1st Nubian doe's, they came with milk customers.
One thing led to another, that supply and demand thing, and the wonderful word of mouth, I soon needed more doe's.
We now will be milking 17 doe's in the spring.
We added this new Milk barn in Jan.09. Sure is a big improvement on my 1st. barn.
The front half of the barn is foyer, feed room, milk room, and 19' kitchen.
The back has a walk through door for just goats, and a large sliding door, for us. Loafing area for the dairy goats, also has 3 pens for kids, & kidding.
This is the inside of our barn, pens, hall way.
Our girls have access to pasture, and some woods, free choice.
We feed our girls 16% grain ration that we have mixed for us at our local feed mill. It contains oats, corn, barley, sunflower seeds, yeast, milo, beet pulp, & dairy supplement.
They get their ration on the milk stand. They have free choice Alfalfa pellets, Clover/timothy/orchard mix hay, that was grown on our farm.
They also have baking soda, and minerals free choice.
We worm on a regular basis, or, if needed, sooner. We use Safeguard, Eprinex, Ivomec.
We vaccinate CD/T, Lysigin, Pasturella .
Our kids are removed from their dam's immediately. We raise them on CAE prevention program. Heat treat Colostrum, Pasteurized milk. We start Coccidia treatment at 21 days, till weaning. Also start them on medicated feed, and feed that till grown.
These are our grandkids, Tyler, and Chelsey. Both are a lot of help with the goats. These pic's are in my new milk room.
Tyler, milking Sweetie. Chelsey, milking Dixie
All our grandkids love helping with the goats. They are usually our summer help.
We are breeding for high milk production, correct conformation, sound, healthy dairy goats.
We hope you enjoy this site.
If you are in the area, and would like to visit. Please feel free to call, and come by.
